Governmental
The construction costs associated with public projects are exceptionally diverse. Many constructions are for the provision of state funded services with keen budgets and tightly control running costs. This creates a contest, a balance between long term running costs and depreciation against the immediate capital cost. This means that many buildings are well constructed but to very tight budget. Some countries have a governmental building standard representing ‘good but basic standard’. This sector however includes some constructions that are prestigious, high quality even subject of design competitions so the range of models shown represents firstly what is typical in each country and secondly gives a selection of the diversity in the local market. It is probably true to say that this is a sector where a rigorous tendering procedures are the norm. EU rules concerning tendering for jobs of certain values are in place and local advice for prevailing local conditions and traditions are a matter for concern and local advice is invaluable.
